Divided States Of America(Jericho Style)
The husband and I have been watching Jericho again and this flag is seen in the TV series and it always gives me the chills. Hits a little too close to home if you ask me. For those of you who have never watched the show I will give you a little run down on the TV series.
Jericho was a CBS television series that ran for 29 episodes. It centers on the residents of the fictional town of Jericho, Kansas in the aftermath of nuclear attacks on 23 major cities in the United States.
*DISCLAIMER: FOR THE SENSITIVE PEOPLE OUT THERE THE FOLLOWING IS STRICTLY MY OPINION
Seldom does a show come along that makes viewers think “How would I react in a similar situation?”, “Am I prepared to survive should something like this happen in my country?” I would be willing to bet that most of the younger population in this nation would have no idea how to survive the situation. And this, readers, is a really sad thing.
I ask myself if it was the quality of the show, the actual number of viewers, the time slot, or was it something else entirely. Did this show make people think too much about the fact that given our current circumstances as it pertains to terrorist activities and “home-grown terrorists”, we stand a good chance of seeing something along these very lines happening? I think the answer to that is YES.
I’m not sure what brought about the cancellation of the Jericho series, but I can say for a certainty that it was not lack of viewers or bad ratings. It was not for lack of originality. It was due more to the intellect of today’s average individual American. One who wants to ‘feel good’ and not think about what might happen or what possibly lies ahead for this country. I watched my first episode after the show was already cancelled and I have said from the very first time I watched an episode that I thought the government had a hand in having it cancelled, and I still say it. They don’t want people thinking about the fact that we are actually very close to something like this. The Jericho series gave you pause for thought. It made you recognize that bad things do happen to good people. Jericho was a good drama. It was also a thought provoking drama that made many Americans recognize that this could happen to us! Heaven forbid we should entertain such negative, but possibly actual, thoughts.
So, all that being said, if you have not watched Jericho, you should. It’s an awesome show and too bad the sorry assholes had to cancel it.
God bless America and please pray that this doesn’t happen.

I agree Pauline. It was a great series and agree that we may well be headed for just that. I will teach gardening and shooting!

I liked the show, they took it off because it was to close to true of what might happen in this country if the powers that be have there way. The flag is a real one, I have one. It is a Civil flag, the peoples flag, the last time it was flown was during the period of the war between the states. I see that it has 21 stars, well in my research the most it ever had was 33, even though my copy has 50 in it which is not right. The first notice of it was the description of it in a novel called The Scarlet Letter written in 1868 I believe, and in some of the newer printings of it, that part was deleted. It fly’s today at border patrol crossings into America along with the American flag, the Home Land security flag and is the Customs flag with a medallion instead of stars, the first it was used as American revenue with stars in a half circle over an eagle with a shield in front of it.Then the coastguard flag that is very similar to Customs with the eagle holding arrows and branches and streamer flags in its beak and a shield, and they have added the anchors emblem over the top of the second red stripe from the right in middle of it. In all 3 of these flags the stripes run up and down and not cross ways. You can find more on the Civil flag in http://www.barefootsworld.net/ and also the Rumor Mill News reading room.——————————-

Jericho continues . . .
The story continues in official S3 – Civil War comic, same writers as show, read about it here: http://tinyurl.com/ycht28n
A movie is possible, a script is being worked on for CBS Films.

Just for the record, the cancellation was for poor ratings. As we all know, Nielsen can’t count! The ratings did not reflect the actual viewers and in the two years post cancellation Jericho has reached even more viewers.

Yeah right. That’s what they want you to think, but I will say it again, I don’t think so.
