Base Jumping
BASE jumping(bās)
n.
A parachute jump from high structures and precipitous earth formations, typically from heights of 305 meters (1,000 feet) or less.
I think that when a person gets in their 40’s they start thinking about things that they would like to do before they turn 50. For me that is getting pretty damn close. I have wanted to go base jumping since I was in my early 20’s. More so now than ever. I think that it would be so awesome to jump off the Grand Canyon with a parachute. God, that would be such a rush! (Kind of like playing chicken on motorcycles with your brother at 13, but that’s another post.) Of course with my luck I would land right square in the middle of the Snake River. I doubt that I will ever see that dream since you have to have 700 hours of parachute time before you can do it. (And jumping out of a perfectly good airplane doesn’t do much for me, I would rather jump off a cliff.) Of course I could do it without those hours and all training that goes with them, but I might spend some time in jail or the hospital. Probably get better food and service in jail then in the hospital.
That’s what I want to do before I turn 50. Granted it will never happen, but it doesn’t hurt to dream.

One would think by the time you are fifty you wouldn’t want to do dumb things. That is on my list of things not to do, like swimming in water over your head. Try sky diving. As far as things to do, Just want to be a pain in the neck to my kids. Is my job complete yet?

I’ve done all the dare devil things I wanted to do. However….I want to take art lessons and learn to paint. My grandmother did that when she was 80 and some of her pictures grace all of our homes.

Wow, blonde! You totally got me thinking about Bella’s Bears. It is an organization that will be in effect in the next five to ten years. Depending on when I walk away from my instituition of higher learning w/ degree in hand. I have been loafing around all weekend feeling sorry for myself, w/ nothing to write about that wasn’t a form of a Challis pity party. I think my next post should be about Bella. So in answer to your post, By the time I’m 50. . . I will think more of others than I do of myself.
